Logo design trends 2012: negative space logos

The minimalistic style that has reigned the design trends in the last time has one very popular variation: the use of negative space in logos. This trend has become a huge hit, basically because it plays with the form and hidden meanings inside it. The basic concept is to have two different elements that are fusioned into one but playing with how these two merge, that's where negative space comes into play. Designing one logo in this style might be tricky, there are a lot of things to consider, starting with the overlapping figures that have to 'match' for them to be coherent. I specially like how this twist on logo design aims more to a certain cleverness, it invites the spectator to find something that's hidden and usually with a bit of humour to it.
