Typography Love: Friend Not Foe

December 12, 2012

If you're getting started with studying typography, this would be a great first approach to it. Friend Not Foe is an introductory book about typography intended for students, where both information and study material is included as inspiration material.  Saranna Drury and Haylie Gray are the authors of this project as part of their Degree Project for Computer Graphic Design and here they show their master skills and love for type.

The concept behind the project is "uncharted territory" which they turned into this beautiful book. Instead of taking the natural approach to study books on the subject where letters are dissected and different styles explained in a standard manner. Their take on this book focuses on the creative use of typography and how it can be as educative like it is inspirational. It is more of a type-artwork collection than a classic student oriented edition.
