The car industry has come up with some of the most memorable and recognizable logo designs of all time. Ferrari, Audi, BMW and so many other popular car companies have amazing logo designs that, along with their massive advertising campaigns, have changed the way that we look at logo design. Today, I want to take a look at some of these amazing car logos.
Ferrari
The Ferrari logo must be one of the most famous logos in the western world today. Who doesn't recognize the prancing horse on a yellow background? Who hasn't dreamt of one day owning one of these beautiful cars? I, for one, most definitely have. I can't help but think of this logo as quite simply perfect. It is so simple, powerful and elegant. I love how the 'prancing horse' sits against the yellow background. I find that the whole logo just pops and embodies the essence of luxury cars.
Audi
Audi is one of the oldest car manufacturers in Germany. The four rings in the Audi logo symbolize the four motor-vehicle manufacturers that merged in 1932 to make up what we all know today as Audi. I love that this design is so simple and rooted in this companies long history.
BMW
The BMW logo has surprisingly changed very little since it was first created in 1917. It is a very simple, smart and memorable logo design. It is sporty and image-conscious. The exact story of where the BMW logo comes from is evidently quite controversial. According to Dr. Florian Triebel, Executive Board Member of BMW AG,
“There are two traditions concerning the significance of the BMW logo and trademark, offering two different interpretations of its sky blue and white fields. One interpretation points to a rotating propeller. The other relates the BMW logo to Bavaria as the place where the products are manufactured”.
Formula 1
Now, I know that this isn't exactly a car logo design but it definitely falls within the car industry and I couldn't not mention it here because I just think that it is an absolutely fabulous design. Do you see the hidden message in this logo? The negative space in the middle of the logo creates the number ‘1′ for “Formula 1″. Brilliant!
Mercedes-Benz
The Mercedes-Benz logo is definitely one of the world’s most recognized brands and my second favourite car logo design. It is a sleek and elegant design that symbolizes class, style and personality. Its simple three-pointed star design represents Mercedes-Benz 'domination of the land, the sea, and the air’.
Rolls Royce
The Rolls Royce logo is a very simple logo that has become quite prestigious over the last century. Although I don't find this logo to be particularly stunning, it has become so strongly associated with these magnificent vehicles that it has grown to be one of the most loved and respected logos in the world today.
Jaguar
The Jaguar logo is absolutely stunning. A sleek and polished jaguar gracefully leaps over the company's name. It is so simple, so perfect and by far my favourite car logo design. The jaguar represents the speed and power of these vehicles while the simplicity of the design is a testament to the style and class that is embodied by these luxury cars.
