Thanks to the rise of the retro trend Instagram has become an obsession for a lot of people. Maybe it's the nostalgic feel to the photographs or how everything immediately looks artistic or whatever other reason that makes users turn to Instagram. But let's face it, there's nothing new in it, it's just filters of styles that have been already used to the infinity and quite frankly the novelty has passed (with its exceptions as in everything of course). Well, to break this mobile photography status quo, visual artist Rainer Kohlberger came up with pxl, an iOS app that turns your photographs into pixel art. There are different filters that you can use to distort the photographs that give very different results. It's a nice breath of fresh air amidst the Instagram overload and the results are quite innovative and look pretty damn cool.
