A woman in New York is taking the city's legendary baseball team, the Yankees, to court. She is claiming that she owns the copyright to the iconic ‘bat in a hat’ logo that the Yankees have used since 1936, according to several reports.
Tanit Buday says her uncle, Kenneth Timur, designed the famous logo, but was never compensated. Now, she want the Yankees to fork over all the money they've earned selling products that sport the logo, according to a report on Reuters.
A Yankees spokesperson told Adweek: “There is no proof of this claim. This is a wonderful country where anybody can sue for anything, even when the allegations are over 70 years old.”
