Fashion logo templates Logo & Brand review

What makes a good fashion logo design? A fashion logo or any logo design for that matter, is used as an identifying symbol for a company. A good fashion logo is distinctive and it helps the consumer to distinguish one fashion brand from another. Effective fashion logos need to be simple, recognizable, timeless and versatile. Over the last century, several successful fashion logo designs have been created that illustrate the importance of these powerful logo design virtues.

Here is my list of the Top 10 high-end Fashion Logos:

#1 Gucci

The Gucci Designer Brand Logo is one of the great icons in the fashion industry and the Gucci brand is famous for is specialty leather goods. Gucci’s logo is simple – it is a play on the double ‘G’ of the name of the brands founder, Guccio Gucci.  The Gucci logo design is recognizable, elegant and classy. It conveys the company’s virtues of elegance, style and good taste.

#2 Louis Vuitton

Like the Gucci’s “GG” logo, the “LV” monogram comes from the founders name and it hasn’t be changed since its inception in 1896. The Louis Vutton logo represents luxury, prestige, and high value.

#3 Burberry

Burberry is a British fashion house that is famous for its distinct tartan pattern. Burberry manufactures high-end clothes, accessories and perfume. The Burberry logo depicts a knight riding a horse and holding a shield. This logo design is meant to stand for honor, nobleness and protection. Black is the colour of choice for the Burberry logo as black conveys the ideas of strength, durability and longevity. Overall, I find the Burberry logo to be very powerful, classic and simple.

#4 Versace

Versace is an Italian fashion brand that was founded by Gianni Versace. Gianni Versace loved Greek mythology and classical art and the logo design created for his company displays just that. You can see the roots of classical art and architecture in the logo as well as Greek mythology with the representation of Medussa’s head. Medussa was a symbol of authority, beauty and fatal fascination. She was said to be absolutely beautiful and to “stop people dead in their tracks”. There are all attributes of the Versace brand and as such Medussa is the perfect symbol for this company.

#5 Chanel

Chanel was founded by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel and it is known for its “haute-couture” fashions. The Chanel interlocking ‘CC’ logo design was created by Coco Chanel herself in 1925 and it has not been changed or modified since. The Chanel logo is most often seen in black as black is meant to convey the ideas of luxurious, wealth and class. Like the other monogram logo designs in the fashion industry, the Chanel “CC” logo is timeless.

#6 Hermes Paris

Hermes is a French brand that was established in 1837. The Hermes logo is a duke carriage and a horse. Hermes Paris decided to use the horse carriage imagery in their logo as a tribute to their beginnings as a horse saddle manufacturer. The orange colour that they use in their logo design is different than most other fashion labels and it represents power, creativity, and avant-gardism.

#7 Lacoste

Lacoste is another French fashion design company that is most known for their iconic logo printed on their famous line of tennis t-shirts. The logo design for Lacoste comes from the name Rene Lacoste who was one of the worlds most famous tennis players. Rene Lacosta did not like the restrictive tennis clothing of his day and as such, he created the Lacoste clothing brand with Andre Gillier where they were to create the unique Lacoste Tennis wear that we know today.

Why does Lacoste use a crocodile in its logo? Rene Lacoste’s nickname was the “Crocodile”. Rene Lacoste placed a bet on one of his matches where he was promised a crocodile skin suitcase if he was to win the match. The name ‘Crocodile’ stuck and became the symbol used in their iconic logo design.

Finally, the last three of my Top 10 Fashion Logos are:
