Angelica Dass is the artist behind the project called Humanae, a chromatic inventory of skin tones. In her own words, it's a project that reflects about color over the barriers of the established codes. The project consists of a series of portraits of people from diverse ethnic backgrounds in front of a colored background that matches their skin color. The specific shade for each individual is taken from a 11 x 11 px sample area from the person's face and then it's matched to its equivalent in the Pantone catalog. The objective of her work is to register the human color tones in a gigantic color collection- so far still a work in progress. Needless to say it's a beautiful project that really captures the subtle differences between all of the people portrayed and finally creating very cool looking swatches.
