Monster has launched a new logo and branding

Last week, Monster announced that it was updating and revitalizing its brand image. This announcement was made fairly quietly and it has gone unnoticed by much of the design community thus far. Hopefully, along with a few other posts that I have seen on the Internet, this post will help to create a little design buzz around Monsters new identity.

Siegel+Gale, an international creative agency that specializes in rebranding and advertising, created Monsters new logo.  The new Monster brand identity includes a new logo that more accurately represents its vision, its goals and the future of this growing company.

The new logo features a new typeface that is no longer all in lowercase. The new logotype is instead all in uppercase with the ‘M’ and the ‘R’ appearing slightly larger than the rest of the letters in the monster name. Monster’s new logo still uses their signature purple color but the logo now comes “emblazoned on a purple flag”. Monster kept their same tagline , “Find Better”.

Monster.com is one of the top employment websites on the Internet. According to Wikipedia, “Monster has over a million job postings at any time and over 1 million resumes, in the database (2008) and over 63 million job seekers per month”. Monster was created in 1999 when The Monster Board changed its name to Monster.com. Their original logo featured a purple monsters eye contrast with a green logotype. In the last decade however, Monster dropped the monsters eye and instead put more emphasis on its logotype and the color purple.

I like the new logo treatment by Monster. The typography used in the new Monster logo is more modern and more fitting for the contemporary digital age that we live in. I think that the new Monster logo is more professional, powerful and distinguished. I found that the old logo was very childish and amateur that I welcome this new, more authoritative logotype.

Along with a new logo release, Monster has also unveiled two new social media tools: Twitter Cards and TalentBin. These new tools are meant to catapult Monster forward in the now very competitive online recruitment market. These new social media tools will allow Monster to be more aggressive and competitive as it strives to be the number one choice for job posters and job hunters alike.
