The passing of Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch left fans from all over the world shocked. The news spread rapidly nowadays, so when we hear of celebrities that we love passing away all kind of tributes are in order. That was what designer Nitzan Hermon did: he got in contact with fellow designers to pay homage in the best way they could, which is graphic design.
The idea is quite simple: each designer chose lyrics of a Beastie Boys' song and created an illustration based on typographic work against a solid background. Over 20 contributors pitched in with their pieces in all kind of styles- from minimalistic Helvetica-based images, to 3D type. All of them share a contemporary style and approach to typographic work.
The entries are featured in a blog created specially for this, called Cause You Can't, You Won't And You Don't Stop. Needless to say this is a beautiful way of paying tribute to someone who created music that's been inspirational for people from all over, a tribute that comes from the work as graphic designers. And maybe you'll have the lyrics stuck in your head for the rest of the day, as I did!
