Vancouver 2010 Olympics logo

Sports logo templates

It has been quite an event having the 2010 Winter Olympics held in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Naturally, the most exciting part of it for us was a few years back when the official logo was selected:
Vancouver Winter Olympics Logo
The winning logo was created by the firm Rivera Design Group (Owner Elena Rivera MacGregor) and she named the logo "Ilanaaq" - which is the Intuit word for "friend". Interestingly enough, according to a recent interview by the Globe and Mail, Ms. Rivera MacGregor had mentioned that having her design chosen to be the 2010 Winter Olympics logo hasn't necessarily given her business a tremendous boost. They still have to work as hard as before (at times even harder), in order to secure projects from potential clients.

In our opinion, this is due to the fact that regardless of the hype, regardless of marketing efforts, in the end whether your in the profession of graphic design or any other profession, substance is what matters. If you don't have the goods, business will dry up no matter how well you market yourself and everything comes down to how well you can answer your client when he or she asks you: "What's in it for me?"

Without a doubt, Rivera Design Group does have the goods and we wish them all the best. The 2010 Winter Olympics logo is a clean, sharp and a wonderful representation of age old Canadian heritage through which the message of the Olympic spirit of fraternity is expressed quite potently. For sure, the design does have its critics, but which work of art doesn't?
