The fonts you choose for your presentation or website are essential for creating a lasting impact on the reader’s impression of your work or site. That is why designers take such care when choosing the right fonts for a website.

Any good designer will deliberate on whether or not chosen fonts should be formal or casual, modern or conservative; all so as to create a website or presentation which is readable and looks amazing. Look at the fonts as personalities and see which one best adds character and individuality to your project.

Standard Life has changed its logo as part of a re-branding effort that will alter its “brand positioning”. This is the first time that Standard Life has altered its visual identity since 1993. Along with the new Universal NBC logo, this is another example of a company stripping down their brand image for something incredibly simple and text-based.

American movie posters, for the most part, follow some pretty basic style guidelines and showcase the standard corporate imagery. Things in Poland couldn't be more different. Polish designers take movie poster design to a whole new (and often bizarre) level with incredible dramatic license. This creativity, which is helped by not having to get corporate approval, results in some of the most surreal and beautiful film posters out there. Some designs are obvious, and some seem completely abstract, with images that have virtually nothing to do with the original picture. We love them.

Dr. Edward Johnson, chairman of Microbiology and Molecular Cell Biology at Eastern Virginia Medical School, and doctorial candidate Clayton Wright grew the Google logo sign using bacteria. Johnson's son, a graduate of NYU’s film school, popped a video of the process on Google’s Demo Slam site this week. Johnson said he hopes the video will inspire young budding scientists.

Google Art Project is the latest announcement from the search masters, and it is an incredible one. The site takes you to a museum, offering high-resolution close-ups of approximately 1,000 works of art and tours of at least 17 museums. So far, the impressive museum roster includes the Tate Modern in London, the MoMA in New York City and the Palace of Versailles outside of Paris.
